Sadly, he lost his job as a delivery driver due to this condition. Since losing his job, James had been going to the park for walks on his own.

The Coatbridge Locality Support Service told him about the Health Walk at Drumpellier Park. He says the main motivation for him to join the group was company and to give structure to his day.

Since joining the Health Walk, James has noticed that his energy levels are up, and that he now is able to walk faster and for longer than when he first started.

James is very sociable and likes to chat and tell people about his life, his travels and his family. He says he doesn’t like being by himself, so walking and talking with others has made him feel better.

Jim has suggested practical improvements to make the walk more dementia friendly, such as making the start of the three different level of walks less confusing when everyone heads off in different directions.
