P4W Walk delivers health walks right across the Highlands every week, from Wick in the north to Tomatin in the south, Ballachulish in the west to Nairn in the east. P4W Walk is a project managed by P4W, a local charity committed to inspiring and supporting local people and volunteers to improve their health and wellbeing.
Our large network of incredible volunteers enables P4W Walk to run a 3 stage model of health walks, from Step Out walks for those at entry level who would benefit from short or more supported walks, to our Step It Up Highland core health walks of an hour and at some groups the provision for those whose fitness has improved to allow them to do a longer walk for up to two hours. The free walks support social interaction and combat loneliness by finishing with a blether and a cup of tea.
Our walks can support those with a whole range of physical and social health conditions and increasing partnership working with other agencies (such as community interest groups, mental health services and the NHS) is allowing us to expand options available for health walks across Highland.
P4W Walk is encouraging increasing numbers of our groups to advise on, and to offer, strength and balance opportunities to our walkers. We will continue to skill up our walk leaders in this regard.
Currently we are delighted to be developing strong partnership working with Highland Hospice, a local Inverness GP practice (Cairn) and with High Life Highland, which will lead to a greater number of health walks across Highland and more walkers being signposted to our walks.
