Walking for Health Grant Applications

Paths for All funds projects to improve Scotland's health through the delivery of local community Health Walk projects.

We invest in community projects which build local capacity, delivering a volunteer led solution to improve physical activity levels.

We’re delighted to be able to open our Walking for Health grant fund to applications again this year. Transport Scotland have provided £40,000 in grant funding to support the delivery of walking activity across Scotland.

We are accepting applications of up to £5,000 from projects that can demonstrate that they will increase the number of people in their community walking. If the grant fund is oversubscribed, priority will be given to projects that are linking with local active travel partners, provision or infrastructure but all projects should be able to evidence increased walking activity in their communities.

Taking part in health walks can help people to build the confidence to walk more for short everyday journeys, for example, to the shops, to school, to work or to connect with public transport links, instead of taking the car. This in turn helps to improve health, create safer and more vibrant communities where people feel connected to each other. This is what Active Travel is all about. There are many agencies and organisations involved in promoting active travel, to find out more click here.

Please contact your Paths for All Development Officer in your area before completing and submitting your application, they will be happy to discuss your idea and if appropriate, support you in the application process.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 28 February 2018. The application form, grant criteria and guidance documents can be downloaded here. Please refer to the guidance about small grants of up to £5000.
