British Sign Language Health Walks begin in Lanarkshire

Members of the Deaf community in Lanarkshire are enjoying local Health Walks thanks to an innovative new project.

We have supported a new venture by Get Walking Lanarkshire and Deaf Services Lanarkshire to offer walks that are led by trained Deaf Walk Leaders.

It means that, for the first time, Deaf walkers and Walk Leaders can communicate with each other, making the walks safer, more accessible and more social.

The first walk was held earlier this month at Strathclyde Park.

This project received a grant from our Walking for Health Fund which is supported by the Scottish Government.
