Move More East Ayrshire is a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and East Ayrshire Council.
Move More East Ayrshire are currently looking for volunteer walk leaders to lead walking groups for people affected by cancer. They are planning to deliver Macmillan Friendly and Move More walks in the area very soon.
All Macmillan walks are led by a trained Macmillan volunteer walk leader so walkers can benefit from extra cancer specific support. The walk leaders lead the walks at a pace and distance that is appropriate for everyone taking part. These walks are short, sociable and provide a supportive, friendly environment for anyone affected by cancer to become more active. People living with cancer, their friends, family and carers are all welcome to attend.
Currently participants in the Move More East Ayrshire programme can choose from a range of activities including; Cancer Rehab Circuits, Gentle Movement, Gardening and Yoga. Staff delivering these sessions are all trained in physical activity and cancer and our volunteers will have been trained in cancer awareness.
