Finzean Health Walk, with the help of a group of walk leaders, offers a weekly health walk around the picturesque rural village of Finzean. The walk lasts no longer than 1 hour and takes place every Monday morning, meeting in the park across from Farquharson Court sheltered housing complex, at 10am. Finzean Health Walk is a well- established group, which has been going successfully for around 6 years and up until recently was supported by the Active Cairngorms project. The group has now joined the Scottish Health Walk Network and is supported by the Aberdeenshire Health Walks project. With the help of our group of walk leaders, we aim to promote safe walking that is adapted to suit you and do our best to cater for the different abilities within our existing group. Our walks are usually based around Finzean and we often use the paths connecting the school, local hall and the estate house in our routes. We will also sometimes take a trip outwith Finzean to walk - previous visits having included the Shooting Greens, the woodland walks/café at Potarch and parts of the Deeside Way. We also, when the weather isn’t suitable for walking, will practice a number of Strength and Balance exercises with our walkers followed by a cup of tea/coffee and some biscuits. These are enjoyed after every walk back at Farquharson Court common room. We would warmly welcome any new walkers that would like to join us.
