Deesiders Health Walks, with the help of trained walk leaders, offers monthly health walks for residents of Dalvenie Gardens very sheltered housing complex in Banchory and Allachburn Care Home in Aboyne.

Deesiders is a joint walking project between these two care providers and began as a result of the Care Inspectorate's Care About Physical Activity (CAPA) pilot project. The walks are also part of the Scottish Health Walk Network.

We deliver short, low level walks to suit the needs of our residents, with family and friends of residents always welcome to join in and lend a hand.

Previous walks have included playing walking bingo on a woodland walk at Potarch (with a cake and cuppa at the hotel afterwards!) and a scavenger hunt around the shop windows in Aboyne, finishing at Allachburn for refreshments.

The locations of our walks vary monthly so please contact the project co-ordinator for details of the next walk. Further to this, Allachburn Care Home have made links with another established health walk group who run a weekly health walk from a nearby sheltered housing complex, Bonty Court. From this, they are hoping that some of the Bonty Court residents will join the walking group once a month, and the groups will take turns to enjoy tea/cake at Allachburn and Bonty Court.
