path surveys

In order to plan your path or path network effectively you need to gather enough information to help you make decisions, work out how much it will cost, and then take appropriate action. However, it is a waste of effort to undertake a highly detailed survey at an early stage – this is best done when you have decided to work on a particular path. The following survey types should help you to prioritise the collection of information to make sure you have enough at each stage of the planning phase. They are adapted from the survey methodology used for upland paths, which were developed for the Upland Path Advisory Group.
