<< Back to Glossary

Surfacing technique involving the spraying of hot or cold bitumen emulsion over an existing old surface or a prepared path base, followed by rolling in a thin single layer or double layer of washed stone chippings to provide surface texture, to prolong the path life, and also add colour. It provides an inexpensive alternative to surfacing a quality laid granular sub base or re-surfacing an existing bound surface path in bitumen macadam or asphalt.
