The Step Count Challenge kicks off on Monday, 29 April and runs for eight, fun-filled weeks.
It gives you and your workmates the opportunity to get together as a team of five and motivate each other to shake up the working day and be more active 9 to 5.
Taking part in the Step Count Challenge is a great way to boost morale and have fun with colleagues while becoming more active and enjoying the health benefits.
Being physically active can reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke by up to 35 per cent. It can also help to lower your risk of Type 2 diabetes by 40 per cent and depression and dementia by 30 per cent.
And, because the Step Count Challenge is for workplaces, it gives you the chance to walk more in and around the working day which is often associated with long periods of sedentary behaviour.
Getting creative about how to be more active during the working day is one of the best things about the Step Count Challenge. Why not arrange a walking meeting with colleagues rather than staying seated indoors, or walk to a workmate's desk rather than messaging them?
Ditch checking your phone at lunchtime and go for a walk in a greenspace instead. Don't take the lift, opt for the stairs, and swap seated coffee breaks for a quick, invigorating power walk.
The Step Count Challenge is not just good for your health, it's also good for business and great for the environment.
Employees who are physically active take fewer sick days, are more productive and focussed, and are more able to concentrate. Leaving the car at home and walking to work also reduces harmful emissions and traffic congestion.
We love walking, and the Step Count Challenge gives us a great way to show off all the positive ways it can help you, your health and your business.
Throughout the challenge, we'll have great prizes up for grabs through weekly competitions and you'll be able to win and collect badges for achieving weekly step goals. We'll also keep you posted about which teams are topping our coveted leader board.
So what are you waiting for? Sign up to the Step Count Challenge today or email us if you have any questions.
We'll be there to help, support and motivate you every step of the way.
