Strength and Balance (Community Walks) - Aberdeen

Overview: This half day workshop explains why walking plus strength and balance provide the key to active older age. Walk Leaders will learn how to do simple Strength and Balance exercises which help to promote independence and reduce the risk of falls.

Date: 24 April 2017

Time: 1.00 - 4.30pm

Location: The Lounge, Westburn Outdoor Centre, Westburn Park, Aberdeen AB25 3EE

Cost: Free of charge

What will I learn?:

  • Increase your understanding about the effects of ageing
  • Explore the benefits of an active older age
  • Identify how active we need to be, based on the ‘Start Active, Stay Active’ 2013 guidelines
  • Try out the Strength and Balance exercises
  • Group discussion about promoting strength and balance exercises with walkers
