Scheme Initiator Training

Overview  Currently a two day course which will highlight the essential elements of a successful walking for health scheme and provide delegates with background information to support their work in developing local schemes.SI_training_Aug

Date  Normally once a year.

Location  Central Scotland.

Cost  Free for those involved in running or setting up walking for health schemes.

Who is the course aimed at?  Key, motivated individuals involved in delivering new health
walk schemes, or those interested in setting up a health walk scheme in the future.

What will I learn?  By the end of the course the delegates will:
  • increase their understanding of the national policy relating to walking for health
  • be aware of the different statutory and voluntary organisations who could be involved in the delivery of local schemes
  • gain an understanding of the relationship between walking, physical activity and health
  • develop insights into working in partnership with other professionals and with the local community
  • gain an understanding of the stages involved in managing a walking for health scheme from planning to evaluation
  • have the opportunity to share experiences informally with other professionals

NB -  This course is currently being reviewed and the Scheme Initiator resource manual content will be updated, but this is a good starting point.
