Path Survey & Design Basics

Overview This one day course will provide a 'hands on' introduction to path survey and design.

Date Wednesday 8th August 2012

Location SNH Conference Centre, Battleby near Perth

Cost This course is free to community volunteers (£90 for non-volunteers).

Who is the course aimed at? This course is aimed mainly at community groups who are involved in, or interested in, designing paths in an urban or rural environment. The course is particularly of value to those new to these subjects. This course may be of interest to access staff, rangers or path managers.

What will I learn?

  • Knowledge of the different types of path survey, techniques and tools

  • Principles of 'fit for purpose' design

  • An overview of path designer's duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007

  • A path designers perspective on surveying and designing accessible, fit for purpose paths

  • An opportunity to survey a path and learn a few surveying skills

  • An opportunity to view a variety of path surfaces on the demonstration path.
