Managing Path Construction (CDM Regulations 2007)

PDF Print

Overview  This training course lead by Paths for All, Forestry Commission Scotland and Cycling Scotland will provide a clear and concise overview of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and Approved Code of Practice. The principals and structure of CDM 2007 and relationships between CDM duty holders are outlined, and their key duties, responsibilities and lines of communication are detailed. The training course will provide participants, who have limited or some knowledge of CDM 2007, with the sufficient understanding to apply the regulations to path construction projects, or even bridge building projects.

Date  23 November 2011.

Location  Inglewood House, Alloa.

Cost  £90.00 (free to community volunteers).

Who is the course aimed at?  This training course is ideal as an introduction to CDM 2007 for people who have not had any previous training in the regulations, who will or may be directly involved in path construction projects. It is equally suitable for people who have been involved in path construction projects in the past under the old regulations (CDM 1994), who need to update their knowledge and understanding of CDM 2007.

What will I learn?
  • Understand the need for and the application of CDM 2007
  • Know how CDM 2007 can be integrated into a path construction project
  • Know when and how to notify a path construction project to Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
  • Understand the general duties of all duty holders
  • Understand the specific duty holder duties and responsibilities
  • Know how to check the competence of duty holders
  • Know what a Pre-construction Information Pack is and what its content is
  • An opportunity to assess and identify foreseeable hazards and risks associated with the path design at Devonway Demonstration Site. To look at how to eliminate the hazards or reduce the risks 'as low as reasonably practical'

and much, much more...

What you will take away?  Managing health and safety in construction - the 'Approved Code of Practice' publication.
