Improving Access to Paths

Overview: This one day course will provide essential information for improving access to paths for everyone.  You will experience both indoor and outdoor environments during the day, which will help you to evaluate your own path provision and information, to make reasonable adjustments that will make it more accessible to a wider range of users.

There are two choices of location for this course (north and south).  The course can be attended on its own or as part of a two day training course package if you wish to attend the ‘Accessibility Auditing & Phototrails’ training course the following day.

Date: 10 October 2011 (Oatridge College) or
           13 October 2011 (Great Glen House, Inverness)

Location: Oatridge College, Ecclesmachan, West Lothian, or
                  Great Glen House, Inverness

Cost: Free to community volunteers (£90 for non-volunteers)

Who is the course aimed at? Anyone involved in, or interested in the management or development of path provision and information on paths (rural  or urban fringe sites).

• Understand the needs of different path users

• Learn about the barriers to accessibility

• Understand relevant legislation [Equality Act 2010].

• Understand the path user’s perspective on the difficulties of accessing paths or networks

• Learn about the information provision improvements that can increase accessibility to paths
