Perth Trainers

Here's another case study, this time from Sheila at the LifeSkills Centres in Tayside. Her team are called the Perth Trainers and their goal is to walk from Perth in Scotland to Perth in Canada. A distance of 3,109 miles. They have 11 people taking part in the challenge and each has to walk 282.5 miles over the next 8 weeks. Here's what Sheila had to say:

"We are walking like mad during our working day and outside of work.  Some of the staff are taking their dog out for walks more often, others are using their cars less and walking more.

One of the training Programmes that we run here in our Centre is for 16-18 year olds called Get Ready for Work. They have put together two charity walks in and around Perth for our nominated charity called CHAS (Childrens Hospice Association) which will involve being supervised by two members of my staff, both walks are roughly about 10 miles each.

We have decided that our journey to Perth Canada will be as the crow flies across the pond, so as to keep our virtual carbon footprints as low as possible!"

The team are also hoping to create some trans-Atlantic goodwill by getting an article about their challenge into the local paper in Perth, Canada. We'll let you know how they get on.
