We recently welcomed Corinne to our Dementia Friendly Walking team. Corinne will be developing Kings Park in Stirling to become more accessible, safer and friendlier to people living with dementia. Here’s a little bit about Corinne…

I join Paths for All with a background in research into dementia friendly communities, social experiences of dementia and more widely in the field of ageing. My work has always been about ensuring that people’s views and perspectives are accurately represented in research. More recently, however, my passion has been to support policy change by coproducing knowledge. To that effect, I have recently led on a Scotland-wide project that has supported people to shape and conduct research within their own communities.

What interested you to apply for this role?

I was excited about the opportunity that comes with this role to work alongside people living with dementia, and with people/organisations supporting people living with dementia, to influence positive changes to the environment in Kings Park, Stirling. Changes that hopefully will make Kings Park more accessible to all, including people living with dementia.

What would you like to achieve in the next year?

In the next year, I want to identify what would make Kings Park more accessible by gaining insight from people with dementia, and people/organisations that support people living with dementia. I hope to work with key partners and organisations to ensure that as many features as are practicably possible can be actioned. In doing so I hope that Kings Park will have become more accessible and be an outdoor park space that is dementia friendly.

An interesting fact about yourself.

My desire to support older people and people living with dementia to have their views heard is rooted in my experiences of being a care home employee, when I was aged only 13!
