A unscreened or screened material removed from the reconstruction or maintenance of asphalt roads. Road scalpings or scrapings are other terms for road planings. Can be recycled to make a low quality granular sub base, then regulated with overlying higher quality granular sub base (Type 1). Road planings can be mixed with other recycled aggregates or secondary aggregates (blaes) to make Toptrec or mixed with foamed bitumen to make a bitumous bound surface.
