Combined mixture of bitumen and fine aggregate used as flexible surface course on shared use paths. It relies for its strength on the mortar binding together the aggregate, where the mortar is the bitumen, fines and filler. Hot rolled asphalt is a bound surface used to surface high quality paths for everyday travel to and from work or school.
