Technical Advice

PDF Print

Paths for All can offer technical advice to anyone (community groups, land managers, access officers, agencies etc) interested and involved in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of paths for outdoor access and active travel.

Technical_Path_Problem1Do you need help finding a solution to a technical path problem? Are you looking for technical advice to help you plan, design, build or maintain your path network? If so, Ask the Technical Officer...

There is also a Glossary of Path Construction Terminology to assist those planning path construction projects to communicate more clearly with path designers and contractors. The glossary provides the most commonly used terminology, with cross references to other related terms and additional guidance.

Every month a Technical Tip will help you with developing and managing your paths. Do you have a technical tip that you would like to share? If so, contact the Technical Officer...

Scottish Access Technical Information Network (SATIN) is the new online technical information network. SATIN offers an opportunity for people interested and involved in the planning, design, construction and management of paths, and other related infrastructure, for active travel, outdoor access and mountain biking to promote and share good practice, technical information and knowledge and network.  To find out more about SATIN, what SATIN can offer you, and how to join the network, click SATIN.
