Paths to Health
Better health is measured in feet!
About us
Paths to Health was established in 2001 to contribute to health improvement in Scotland through the promotion of walking for health and now forms a key delivery mechanism for Scotland’s Physical Activity Strategy - Let’s Make Scotland More Active.
Paths to Health delivers walking for health under 4 main themes, Community, Health care, Workplace and National co-ordination. We can advise you on how to set up your own walking project and provide training, grants and resources to help you to promote walking in your own area. Contact the Paths to Health Development Officer responsible for your area for more information.
Paths to Health receives support from the Scottish Government Public Health & Wellbeing Directorate, British Heart Foundation and Centre for Healthy Working Lives.

What is a health walk?
A health walk can be described as a purposeful walk which you undertake on a regular basis to improve your health. You may choose to walk on your own, with your friends and family or join one of your local health walk groups. You can learn more about your local area, meet other people and you will soon start to feel healthier. The health walk groups have been established to create a supportive environment for you to start to enjoy the many benefits of being physically active.
Better health is measured in feet!
Walking is described as the perfect exercise by health professionals and has many benefits. Walking requires no special equipment or expense and is the ideal way for most people to become more active. To find a health walk group in your area click on Find a Health Walk.
We wish this website to be a useful resource to everyone with an interest in walking for health in Scotland. If you have any comments on the website, or if you would like more details about walking for health in Scotland, please contact us.
